Dr. Chris Mann Layne
CRC, NCC, BCBA

Dr. Layne is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and has over 12 years of experience working directly with adults and children with Autism & related disabilities. She has a doctorate from Virginia Tech in Counselor Education and a MS in Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology. In addition to her work in public schools and community agencies, she served as a Program Director for a private day school for children with Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders (http://www.blueridgeautismcenter.com/video.html). She has also worked on teams conducting research studies related to families and autism, as well as served on a critical review panel for a journal publishing articles related to the study of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

She has published numerous articles in professional journals in the field of counseling as well as rehabilitation. She is also nationally published on the topic of Autism and Early Identification [Journal of Counseling and Development, V85 (1), Winter 2007].

Dr. Layne has experience working with adults, siblings of children with ASD, social skills training for children wiht AS and HFA, as well as designing and implementing individual behavioral and educational programs for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). 

Dr. Layne has taught as an adjunct professor for Virginia Tech, teaching doctoral  students group counseling and advanced counseling techniques. She travels nationally and internationally presenting on topics such as; challenging behaviors, toilet training, ABA, communication systems, language acquisition, siblings and bullying, & counselors working with siblings or  children with AS & ASD. In addition, she has trained parents, ABA therapists, school counselors, teachers,  paraprofessionals, licensed school and clinical psychologists, as well as other agency clinicians.
